Shawwal is the tenth month of the Hijri calendar. It begins with Eid al-Fitr, the joyous celebration marking the end of Ramadan's fasting. The Prophet ﷺ encouraged fasting six days during Shawwal after Eid, saying: 'Whoever fasts Ramadan and follows it with six days of Shawwal, it is as if he fasted the entire year.'
