How to Convert Hijri Dates to Gregorian and Vice Versa

The Approximate Formula

Hijri to Gregorian: Subtract 3% from the Hijri year, then add 622.

Example: 1447 − 43 + 622 = 2026 (approximate).

Gregorian to Hijri: Subtract 622 from the Gregorian year, then add 3%.

Example: (2026 − 622) × 1.031 = 1447 (approximate).

This formula gives an approximate year but may be off by a few days when it comes to the exact date.

Understanding the Hijri Date Format

A Hijri date has three components: Day (1–29 or 30), Month (one of 12 Islamic months), Year followed by "AH" or "هـ". Example: 15 Ramadan 1447 AH.
